Effective February 2nd, 2026
At Bloom Community®, we are committed to providing safe, ethical, and transparent psychological services. Informed consent means that before you, or your child, begin services with us, you are given clear information about what to expect, including the purpose of the service, possible benefits, and any risks or limitations of the service. Consent is voluntary, and you can withdraw consent or discontinue services at any time.
We offer a range of services, including individual therapy, psychological assessments, coaching, social connection groups, and family or relationship support.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Ask questions about the nature, purpose, and methods of your care
- Receive services that are respectful, inclusive, and culturally safe
- Have your privacy and confidentiality protected in accordance with Australian law
- Withdraw your consent or discontinue services at any time
Children and young people
Parents/guardians and clients under 18 should note the following:
For clients under 18 years of age, consent is generally required from each parent/guardian with legal decision-making responsibility, unless a court order or other legal documentation provides otherwise.
In some cases, a young person may be assessed as having sufficient maturity to provide their own consent. Where this occurs, some information may not be shared with parents/guardians without the young person’s consent, except where required or authorised by law, or where there are safety concerns or a serious and imminent risk.
Limits to confidentiality
Your information is treated as confidential. Information may be disclosed without consent where required or authorised by law, including:
- Mandatory reporting obligations
- Court orders or subpoenas
- Emergencies or where there is a serious and imminent risk to your safety or the safety of others
Practical information
Before commencing services, you will receive clear information about:
- Fees, billing, and available rebates
- Telehealth services (via Google Meet), requiring a secure device, a private space, and a reliable internet connection. We will also explain the platform we use and how client records are stored (e.g., Halaxy).
- Cancellation and rescheduling policies
- How to provide feedback or make a complaint
Note: Our email is not monitored for urgent concerns or emergencies. For emergencies, call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.
Ongoing consent
Consent for your child’s psychological care is ongoing and will be reviewed annually, or sooner if circumstances change. At each annual review, we will discuss any updates to services or policies, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and update your details or preferences.
You can withdraw your consent or discontinue services at any time.
If something goes wrong during the provision of our services, or your child is harmed, we will inform you as soon as possible, discuss what has happened, and outline options for support and next steps.
